Hip Hop royalty Queen Latifah has been announced to host this years Black Girls Rock! award show, in her hometown Newark, New Jersey.  The award show is an annual event to celebrate black girl magic. According to Hot New Hip Hop, CEO and founder of Black Girls Rock! Beverley Bond praised the rapper in statement.

“Queen Latifah is the epitome of black excellence, Hip Hop royalty, and black girl magic! She has been a longtime supporter of Black Girls Rock!™ and has been honored at both our televised and pre-televised shows. I’m so thrilled to welcome her back to the Black Girls Rock!™ stage as host.”

Queen Latifah will take the stage at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), on August 26 and BET will air the event on September 9.
