Amazon will reportedly split its second headquarters between two cities
Amazon will reportedly split its second headquarters in between two cities, according to reports. A surprising development in Amazons long journey to find another headquarters location. Each city location will be employing up to 25,000 people. The decision has to do with recruiting enough talent and also preemptively addressing issues with housing and transit.
Amazon has yet to announce where its new location will be located, although reports from the Wall Street journal say the company is looking into Crystal City, Virginia, Dallas, Texas and even NYC. Amazon has held advanced discussions in crystal city. In January Amazon released a list of 20 cities it said we’re finalists. Most locations were in metro areas that could support employees particularly with airports and other transit options. Many cities have tried to court Amazon to garner the company’s attention,Kansas City mayor Sly James wrote 1,000 reviews of Amazon products; Tucson, Arizona, tried to deliver a 21-foot cactus to Amazon’s HQ in Seattle; and one town in Georgia offered to rename itself “Amazon.”
