Supreme News!!
The New York Post recently collaborated with streetwear brand Supreme. A regular New York Post print cost a $1.50 from your local newsstand. However after supreme added their branding to the paper, the resale value of the otherwise mundane newspaper rose exponentially.
Supreme is largely known for putting their stamp on daily used items, and the hype around the street brands name causes the items value after initial purchase to rise. Supreme has done this before with New York’s MTA system for their spring ’17 collection, printing a number of MTA metrocards with supreme branding. The value on the card was $5.50, today that same card can be sold for upwards of $25.
The hype is real with this is one. In today’s technological world most people think twice before purchasing a print newspaper, when the worlds information is already waiting in the palms of their hands via smart phones. However Supreme, had the masses in a frenzy trying to get their hands on this issue. Fans and supporters of the brand are calling it a novelty items. The information in the print may not be worth 20$, but the Supreme box logo may be.
