Following his murder conviction, former officer roy Oliver was sentenced to 15 years in prison today for the fatal shooting of 15-year-old JordanEdwards.Prosecutors asked the judge in the case to give Oliver at least 60 years for the April 2017 slaying of Jordan while the defense argued for 20 years or less.

The Dallas county jury deliberated for 12 hours before announcing a guilty verdict, Oliver fired multiple shots in a car striking and killing Jordan. the 15 year old was leaving an house party that the officer was responding to. Jordan was innocent and not involved in any crime that night but was wrongfully murdered by the former officer .
