Nintendo Switch Breaks U.S. Sales Records During Black Friday
Nintendo has broken sales records over the extended holiday weekend, with the Switch becoming the best-selling Nintendo system in U.S. history during the process. Surpassing even the Wii, the Nintendo Switch had the best-selling week its ever had in the States and was among the most purchased products online during Thanksgiving as well as the best-selling video game item during Black Friday & Cyber Monday. Company reports state that Switch sales were up 115% placing the current up to date sales number at 8.2 million.
In total, Nintendo sold $250 million USD worth of products during the holiday, according to the company. Titles such as Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee reached a combined 1.5 million units following its launch last week. Meanwhile, Super Mario Party reached 1 million as well, making it the fastest selling Mario Party game of all time.
Alongside the 3DS and special edition 2Ds, Nintendo offered an appealing bundle for the Switch, packaging Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in with the system at no extra charge. Some retailers even added to that bundle with extra offers of its own.
