MAN DIES AFTER SUSPECTED SHARK ATTACK ON CAPE COD
A 26 year old man swimming at a Cape Cod beach died sunday September 16, 2018 after falling victim to the first shark attack inn Massachusetts in more than 80 years. Wellfleet Police reported the man was bitten saturday at Newcomb Hollow beach by a shark. The victim and a friend was surf boarding some 30 yards off the beach when the travisty occured. Officials identified the man as Arthur Medici of Revere, Massachusetts announcing he died later in a Cape Cod hospital shortly right after the attack.
The official cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner but the deputy chief of Cape Cod National Seashore, Chris Hartsgrove told CNN that the injuries seemed to consistent with those from shark teeth. This is the second attack in a few moths near the idyllic getaway. A 61 year old man suffered punctured wounds after a shark bit him while standing offshore. The last recorded fatal shark attack in Massachusetts was in 1936 according to documents from The Florida fo Shark Research at the Florida Museum of Natural History.
