AMAZON PLANS TO OPEN TO 3000 CASHIERLESS STORES BY 2021
News that online retailer Amazon plans to open up to 3,000 “cashierless” stores by 2021 is being billed by some as a threat to traditional brick-and-mortar retail pharmacy chains. Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos sees getting rid of that lunch break smoke break bull mess in these big cities, Amazon reinvents the Brick-and-mortar shopping experience where all the spending mostly is.
Bezos said Amazon was “very interested” in physical stores, but only if it has something new to offer. “If we offer a me-too product, it’s not going to work,” he said.
Your average restaurants are going to be sick that AmazonGO is in at the hands of their customers. Shoppers rate location and a lack of lines as the most important factors when shopping for convenience. I myself would rather stay in and order out every trip. “AmazonGo already has no lines,” Jeff Lenard said. “The key to success will be convenient locations. If it’s a quarter mile from where people are walking and biking, the novelty of the technology won’t matter. It’s too far away.”
