360 PEOPLE MURDERED IN JAMAICA SO FAR IN 2019
A total of 360 people have been murdered in Jamaica since the start of 2019, according to figures released. The officials figures show that 42 people were killed in st James, following the lifting of the state of public emergency in that western parish in January. At the time the death toll was 23. Figures show that Clarendon recorded 36 murders, St Cathrine south , 35 st Andrew South 37, Westmoreland has 35 murders recorded so far this year.
Police have reported that nearly 200 illegal guns and nearly 3,000 rounds of ammunition have been seized since January. There were 30 fatal shootings involving the police since January 21st, two involving security guards and seven involving licensed firearm holders.
Last year in 2018, Jamaica recorded a total 0f 1,287 murders a 22% decline from the murders recorded in 2017.
