MTV VMA RECAP…

The Best, Worst and Most Surprising Moments of the 2018 MTV VMAs

Here’s what you missed at the VMAs

MTV Video Music Awards took place Monday night the night if you were able to tune in here’s what you missed

Cardi B kicked off the festivities making her first red carpet appearance post-baby she returned to the stage at the 2018 VMA’s and it was back to business as usual: She picked up Best New Artist, Best Collaboration (for J.Lo’s “Dinero”), and Best Shade, a category the Oscars would be better off including , if it were being truthful. Accepting BNA, Cardi shrugged off the naysayers who said she was “gambling her career” by choosing to do the unthinkable and become a  working mom at the rise of her career She also included a bit more than a shrug to address a certain other pesky critic who of late has accused her of, among many things, payola: “All of the love that fans, my friends, everybody shows me is genuine and beautiful and that’s something that God gave me that you can’t buy, ” she paused, “bitch.”

Like the pro that she is, J.Lo breezed through hits like “Waiting for Tonight” and “Jenny From the Block.” The choreography was crisp, and the costume changes were impressive. She even sang on a New York City subway stage piece. All in all, in a show that was lacking theatrics, J. Lo brought the drama Her performance wouldn’t be complete without Ja Rule—who joined her for “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny,” giving us the best throwback moment of the night j.l0 also took home the Vanguard award.

With all the contriversy surrounding Nicki Minaj she still managed to shine last night securing the award for best hip-hop at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards she also gave. a killer performance Performing from the Oculus near the World Trade Center in New York City, Minaj, dressed like royalty, came with an army of scantily-clad dancers and an unflinching swagger that pervaded the room. From the onset, Minaj dived into her her Eminem-assisted track “Majesty.” With avid Minaj fans chanting the lyrics back at their empress with fervor, the Queen star fed off their energy and dazzled.

With her motor on high, Minaj went on to crank out several album cuts, including “Barbie Dreams,” “Fefe” and an a capella version of “Ganja Burn,” which earned thunderous roars from the crowd.

Madonna’s rambling Aretha Franklin Tribute sparks Backlash

The backlash was swift for madonna’s rambling, egocentric tribute to Aretha at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York on Monday night (Aug. 20), with media and Queen-of-Soul fans wondering why she got the gig in the first place.

Dressed in flowing black with grandiose flourishes of African jewelry, Madonna’s send-off came before she presented the video of the year award to  Camila Cabello spoke at length about her own start in the business and her own career before thanking Franklin for “empowering all of us. R.E.S.P.E.C.T.”

Cabello then collected the biggest award of the night for her “Havana” video with a bow to Madonna, dedicating the trophy to, you guessed it, Madonna. There was a short video of early Franklin that played before Madonna said that the icon who died Thursday (Aug. 16) “changed the course of my life,” and Franklin’s “Respect” played as the night’s closing credits rolled. But there was no live musical performance honoring the late Queen
