$6.2 BILLION US DOLLAR SETTLEMET WITH FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS

September 19, 2018 let’s talk about these financial institutions and the lawsuits that come along with the game. Visa, Mastercard and other credit card companies have agreed to a $6.2 billion settlement in a long-running antitrust lawsuit over the fees merchants pay when accepting card payments. Merchants allege card networks and banks colluded to raise those fees; JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and Bank of America are also defendants in the case. Interchange fees are charged after a merchant swipes a card and are set by networks like Visa and Mastercard.
